The short version
TechPerverts collects and stores no personal data. No accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics profiles, no database of visitors. The one meaningful data flow on this site is the one the site is about: if you consent, Google serves personalised ads in the grid, and Google's advertising services process data to do that. This policy explains both halves honestly.
1. Who we are
TechPerverts ("we", "us") operates the website at techperverts.com. We are the data controller for the limited processing described in this policy. Contact: [email protected].
2. Data we collect ourselves
- Nothing stored server-side. We have no user database. We do not log who you are, what ads you saw, or what you typed.
- Captions. The caption you write lives in your browser and, if you share a link, inside the link itself (as a URL parameter). We never receive or store it on a server. Anyone you send the link to can read it — treat it like a postcard.
- Consent choice. Your accept/decline choice for the cookie banner is stored in your own browser's localStorage so we don't ask you on every visit. It never leaves your device.
- Standard web-server logs. Our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention, as virtually all hosting does. We do not use these to identify visitors.
3. Data processed by Google advertising services
The four ad slots on our home page are served by Google AdSense. When ads load, Google processes data as an independent service to select and serve those ads. Depending on your consent choice, this can include:
- Cookies and similar identifiers (see our cookie policy);
- IP address and coarse location;
- Device and browser information;
- If you consented to personalised ads: interest categories and ad-interaction history that Google associates with your browser or device across the web.
We never see this data. The ads render inside Google's own frames, which our code cannot read. For details on how Google uses data when you use partner sites, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and to control ad personalisation across Google, visit adssettings.google.com.
4. Consent and legal bases (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, personalised advertising only runs after you give consent through our consent banner (Google Consent Mode v2 defaults to "denied" until then). You can:
- Decline — only strictly necessary functionality runs; any ads that appear would be non-personalised or absent;
- Withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser (which resets the banner) and choosing again.
Our legal bases are: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for personalised advertising, and our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure, functioning website for the minimal technical processing described in section 2.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar laws (including the CCPA/CPRA for California residents), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of personal data, and to data portability. Because we hold no personal data about you, most requests will be satisfiable instantly — there is nothing to retrieve or delete on our side. For data processed by Google, exercise your rights through your Google settings or Google's privacy contacts. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
6. Children
TechPerverts is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly process children's data. The site shows the same content to everyone: a counter, a grid of labelled ads, and some statistics.
7. International transfers
Google may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See Google's documentation linked above for specifics.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy — for example, if we ever add analytics or a server-side share feature — we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be flagged on the home page.
